Current Project - February 2010 Estimated Cost $3,500
Looks like we will finally be taking care of something other than the family dog! (Top center photo with our dog Mili). As you already know, Jennie has been dealing with some health issues for a couple months now. So we recently decided that it would be in her best interest to go to the city and get a check up so we could confirm the cause of her sicknesses. We have to admit that the thought did cross our minds that she could be pregnant but neither of us really believed that she truly was. After all, we have been married almost nine years! And after another doctor check up a few months ago we were told not to expect pregnancy from Jennie any time in the near future. We thought it was just as likely that her recent health problems could have been occurring because of stress, amoeba, or any of the many other sicknesses or situations we regularly encounter here in Indonesia.
Well in this situation, for us seeing was believing. We found a place in a local city that can do sonograms. We went and saw on a computer screen the baby forming in Jennie’s belly, we heard the baby’s heartbeat, and we rejoiced together in this gift that God seems to be giving us – our first child! The doctor said that Jennie is close to four months along now and that the baby is due around August fifth. The doctor did however say that there is one “complication.” He referred to it as “Previa” and said that we would need to spend the entire last three months of the pregnancy in the USA where there are adequate medical facilities to perform any of the emergency procedures needed if this complication doesn’t clear up by itself. The doctor told us we need to be back in the States by mid-May of this year. So there you have our new “Project of the month” – The travel expenses involved in getting back to the States for the birthing of our first child!
We have a goal of getting a total of 66% of the New Testament into the Dao language before we head back to the States. But please pray for us that we can finish out this next couple months strong and that we can meet this goal. Also pray that we can make wise decisions in setting up the Dao people to continue teaching their own and reaching out to the new areas that they are presently doing and planning new outreaches to. And finally, please pray together with us for good health for Jennie and also for our baby that is growing inside of her. Pray that this complication will be cleared up and that she would be able to carry the baby full term so that it can have a healthy birth. Also, pray about this financial need with us and whether or not God would have you play a part in this “Project of the month.” Thank you so much for the part you play in seeing God’s Word brought to the Dao!
